Real grappa and grappa-and-honey liquor
Finca Amalfi (Amalfi State) is a new undertaking devoted to
vinic distillation.
It is situated in the northwest of the province of Montevideo,
Uruguay, an area within wich the 70% of the Uruguayan enterprises
devoted to the growing of different varieties of grapes as
well as wineries are located: in the north of Montevideo and
Canelones.
Besides, our State is located 10 minutes from Carrasco International
Airport and 15 km from Montevideo Harbour.
Finca Amalfi arises with the aim of producing both, genuine
grappa and grappa-with-honey liquor.
Grappa wich is 100% vinic basis, and real grappa-and-honey
liquor, which is made of grappa and natural honey.
Both of them are produced at the lowest reasonable cost in
order to offer an outstanding product to the largest number
of costumer, while setting new standards regarding the production
of these spirits.
The aim is to provide the grape cicle with respectable ending,
by offering the costumer these fine spirit, wich are highly
associated to the best traditions set up in homelad by our
Italian and Spanish ancestors.
Finca Amalfi has a high-production Rousselle continuos distiller,
and also discontinuos distillers used for craft-style distillation.
Our production capacity enables us to distil fresh grape remains,
as soon as those grapes are processed.

The spirit that is called
grappa in Italy, in Portugal is called bagaceira, in Spain
orujo and in France eau de vie. |
Genuine grappa and real grappa-and-honey liquor at
last
Strange as it may seem, in Uruguay it is allowed
the dilution of grappa together with agricultural alcohols
which are not made of grape.
Such activity gives rise to the production of spirits wich
do not comply with the UNIT regulations currently in force
in Uruguay as well as in Mercosur. But the worst is that the
consumer is not aware of that as the percentage of alcohol
not distilled from grape is not stated in the label. In this
way, the original taste goes off while confusing the consumer
about the real taste and bouquet of grappa. The only spirit
that can be called grappa is that that is made of 100 % vinic
distillation as wine can only be made of 100 % grapes.
It is difficult for a consumer to find grappa-and-honey liquor
exclusevily made of grappa. It is even mor difficult to find
this spirit to have a reasonable amount of original bee-honey.
It will contain artificial flavours and different artificial
sweeteners instead. Only by having a look at the different
labels of grappa-and-honey liquor offered within the Uruguayan
market, one can be in a mess.
Due to that, Finca Amalfi has the unique opportunity of recovering
both, traditinal and popular spirits by producing genuine
as well as natural grappa an grappa-and-honey liquor.
